I am a student in the four year baking and pastry program with TWO minors. Johnson and Wales has been an amazing opportunity to be able to experience multiple parts of the industry while having the flexibility to ensure I am getting everything out of college that I wish to. Both of my minors give me the experience of the business and beverage side of the industry so that I can get a more well rounded experience during my time here. The faculty here, especially the chefs, are very knowledgeable and are passionate about what they are teaching. The chefs are always there for every student and are always willing to work with a student on any projects or individual passions they may have.
As a sophomore in the Culinary Arts program at Johnson & Wales University, I can honestly say my experience has been amazing so far. One of the things I love most about JWU is how hands-on the learning is. Instead of just sitting in lectures, we spend so much time actually working in the kitchens, practicing techniques, and gaining real experience that prepares us for the industry.
One of the most incredible opportunities I had was attending a tour at JWU. The tour guides gave so much detail and made me feel at home. Especially, Elijah Brown who now graduated. He shared his experience studying abroad and doing an internship abroad and that was cool to me. And all of the clubs and teams we had here were exactly what I wanted. Couldn’t ask for a better college experience!
