About

Tucked along Northwest Highway in Mount Prospect, a suburb about 25 miles from downtown Chicago, IIFA College operates as the language arm of the Illinois Institute of Fine Arts. Formerly branded the IIFA English Learning Center, the school pitches itself squarely at F-1 visa holders and short-term visitors who want structured English study without a university price tag. The offering is deliberately narrow: an intensive ESL program and a TESOL certification track, delivered in a hybrid format that mixes in-person sessions with online learning across a two- or three-day weekly schedule.

What sets IIFA apart from most independent language schools is the flat-rate transparency. Tuition, books, and fees are bundled into a single $600 monthly charge, an unusually low ceiling for a CEA-accredited, SEVP-certified institution authorized to issue I-20s. The school leans hard into serving the immigration ecosystem: transfer students, reinstatement cases, and change-of-status applicants are explicitly welcomed, and there is a referral partnership with the U.S. Immigration Group law firm for those needing legal support.

The institutional voice is functional rather than aspirational. There is no elaborate campus, no boutique small-group promise, no glossy academic ladder to Ivy League pathways. Instead, IIFA reads as a practical, budget-conscious landing pad for international students who need legitimate F-1 status, a flexible schedule, and enough English instruction to move forward with life or further study in the U.S.

I am so happy to find IIFA and I have no regrets joining here! I am currently studying at Mount Prospect center, and I think the location is convenient. They have a large parking space so that all the cars can be accommodated, and students can also come to school by both their own cars and Metra. The class consists of a small group of people - maximum 12 people so that the instructor can focus on each of the students and the instructor is very passionate and professional. She covers grammar, reading & writing, conversations skills, cultures, all of them. The thing I was encouraged the most was DSO people. They take care of us a lot. Before coming to IIFA, I was studying in other college located in downtown, but felt they don't really think of the students a lot, and I also felt my English skills are getting worse. Therefore, I started to contact many ESL centers in the suburb and met DSO person, Mrs. Rose. She is a real expertise regarding the Visa. She clarified to me what steps I need to follow to transfer here. I think this is the most important for foreign students like me because we need to lean on the information we found online. Even after the semester begins, she always welcomes us and gives us many tips for studying English and tips for adapting to USA.

Dear All... My encounter with the Illinois Institute of Fine Arts is definitely a unique experience. I arrived in Chicago as a tourist, visiting friends and wanting to spend some time exploring the city, resting. I accidentally found the school's website and decided to spend my time in Chicago in a better way, improving my English skills. A few months later, here I am, successfully completing the first semester and eagerly awaiting the start of the second. Why did I decide to stay and enroll in the second semester at IIFA? First of all, because of the extraordinary work of the professor who tried to make it easier for us to learn English and who, with her efforts, awakened in me the desire for further learning and improvement. In addition to her, I also owe gratitude to the my school advisor and the administrative staff, who were always ready to answer questions and provide all the necessary support and were ready to help me in a humane and friendly way. Also, they did great job, to help me finish process of changing my visa status to F1. It took away a lot of pressure from me. In addition to all that, in IIFA I met people from all over the world, learned something about their cultures and traditions. As a person who comes from a multinational country, I have always been interested in getting to know other cultures. Avad Bahto, IIFA student 2023/2024.

This is a very immigration friendly school. They know what they are doing. They care about the students’ welfare. Kudos to this school.

My personal experience has been excellent. My student visa was approved in less than three months, and with the help and guidance of attorney Ms. Rose, the process was clear and straightforward. She explained everything thoroughly and kept me informed every step of the way. I highly recommend her. As for the classes, I have greatly improved my English skills. What I like most is that I have learned how to communicate using everyday expressions that people actually use in daily life. I am very happy to be studying at this school. Whenever I have questions, the staff is always available and responds quickly. I visited other schools before making my decision, but I chose IIFA because from the very first contact they answered all my questions and maintained excellent communication throughout the process. In addition, the tuition is very affordable. It has been the perfect choice for me. I am very grateful to Ms. Rose for her guidance, and my teachers have made my experience as a student completely positive.
