Murray State is ranked the #1 value college in the south. They do this because they have the lowest tuition of any public 4 year university in Kentucky. How they keep tuition low is by charging more than any other university in the state for housing, food, parking, and so on. They are not cheaper than any other Kentucky university, and their business model is very predatory. There are some fantastic professors, staff, and programs at this school, but unfortunately the mismanagement in the highest levels of administration at this school is running it into the ground and pushing away many of our best and brightest students.
Daughter graduated from the institution in May. Academicly, a solid regional university, but residential and student life adminities have room for improvement.
